About a week ago, we received a request concerning a replacement/exchange for a Yaskawa Servopack CACR-SR10BE12G-E. The customer approached us cautiously, as his machine had stopped working and although he could get a replacement device from his spare parts specialist, he shared his experience that Yaskawa units don’t always function right away after installation. We fully understand this caution, as these devices indeed need to be programmed precisely to match the motor type.

Risks of Incorrect Parameterization

If a replacement unit is installed without properly adjusted parameters, at best, you’ll receive an error message. In the worst-case scenario, however, the axis could experience a severe crash. It’s therefore critical to ensure the correct parameters are transferred before operation.

Our Remote Parameter Extraction Service

As the customer was not located nearby, we couldn’t offer an on-site parameter extraction service. Instead, he sent his defective drive to us in advance. We carefully extracted the necessary parameters and transferred them to our replacement unit. The whole process took a total of only two working days until the customer received the replacement, installed it, and was able to continue with his operations.

Important Advice for Yaskawa Servopack Replacement

It’s important to remember that certain Yaskawa Servopacks must be properly parameterized before use—simply replacing the unit without adjustments can have serious consequences. Often, a repair can even be more cost-effective than purchasing a replacement. Unfortunately, very few service providers possess the required expertise. After professional refurbishment, a high-quality repaired device can reliably serve for many additional years.
